In my opinion, being "present" is not just physically being somewhere, it is also being there mentally. In the book when Miles was daydreaming in class, he was physically in the classroom, but mentally, he was in his own world. I feel that if you want to be "present" in every day life, you have to live your life to its fullest and not live a predictable boring life. If i had to give advice to someone about how to stay "present" it would be to make life worth it and find a reason to wake up every morning. If you plan every day, then life is too predictable. If you find meaning in your life, you will want to spend every moment like its your last.
